Mauritius Makeover : Profica involved in Club Med renovation.

Mauritius is one of the most prized destinations for Club Med clients.

It is frequented by island lovers so extending the general renovation of La Pointe aux Canonniers has become a vital project for Club Med.

Profica, in joint venture with Keystone are appointed as the client representative on this project to assist the project team to complete this technically challenging project in the shortest time possible. The project is currently under construction.

Right now, this beautiful destination has 286 bedrooms but once the project is completed -  96 new bedrooms will be added bringing the overall total of rooms to 382.

Food for Thought

The existing main kitchen has been demolished and is currently being reconstructed on the same level as the buffet section and the main restaurant.

Several areas of the existing restaurant will be extended with simple deck and veranda extensions in order to promote the inside-outside feel.

R&R

An extension to the existing beach restaurant for an extra 36 seating spaces together with a reorganization of the F&B service to this restaurant, as Club Med’s concept for the beach restaurant, is to transform it into a Gourmet Lounge which will provide an all-day service.

A little TLC

A completely new spa with much more facilities including Hamman, cardio and fitness rooms is now being created. There will be a conversion of existing spa buildings as toilets and additional changing facilities for the new family pool. The new family pool wwill have unique water features and also include a game area for children. A new Ado corner for teenagers which will be located near the new family pool.

For those who prefer a quiet relaxation space, there will also be a new zen pool and an associated beach bar in the enclave of the existing deluxe rooms.

Going Green

In terms of sustainability, all used water will be treated and recycled for irrigation purposes; LED light bulbs and other modern systems are being used to lessen the overall electricity consumption and, existing and new flat roofs will be used as a support for solar water heaters.

The ultimate aim of this project is to be as green as possible in all aspects of the project and create a unique destination and environment with an extensive use of timber in a lush tropical landscaping to reinforce the Mauritian identity and consolidate this prized destination.
