In 2016, Profica was one of 4 companies appointed by Absa to provide Design & Build services for the roll out of their major client-facing network programme. This included the delivery of over 200 branches nationwide. In November 2017, Absa extended Profica’s contract for a further two year period to support the continuation of the programme.
Leveraging Profica's experience in hotel and serviced apartment developments and highrise buildings, a superbly designed model mock-up apartment was created by the designers and completed for the innovative MySuite concept.

This has been to essentially maximise the current use of space and to ensure the open flow of communication between management, teams and employees. Practically, however, there has often been a disconnect between vision and reality.

Latitude Hotels is an exciting first-time client for Profica East Africa. Profica is providing comprehensive project management services to the hotel development, from ground-breaking through to completion of construction, furnishing of the hotel and final handover of the project to the client.

Following on from the recent ground-breaking ceremony, activity is now underway on Douala Grand Mall situated in Douala, Cameroon.
Profica’s already-strong team in East Africa has just been given a further boost by the appointment of Kenneth Oigo as Associate Director of Profica East Africa.
Kenneth brings to the team a talent for handling diverse urban projects. This includes a specialisation in retail developments as well as strong expertise within the hotel sector and refurbishment.
Prior to joining the Profica team, Kenneth gained 13 years experience in property project management in senior positions with a focus on retail and hotel projects. Prior to this Kenneth was the senior project manager at Rendeavour Ltd Kenya, which is Africa’s largest urban land developer.
A recent addition to Profica’s strong Johannesburg team is Godfrey Ajusi, who has joined as a senior manager.
With a BSc (Hons) in Construction Management obtained at the University of the Witwatersrand, Godfrey has a diverse range of experience gained through working for heavyweights such as Anglo Gold and Grinaker at the start of his career, to co-founding and managing his own construction and project management services company, Contibuild Africa.
Godfrey’s expertise includes the management and reporting on large-scale projects; monitoring product standards and implementing quality-control programmes; and wide liaison with varied departments such as procurement, land developers and municipality teams, and on site managers to ensure implementation of the client’s policies and goals. Particularly noteworthy was a vast construction project under Godfrey's management and reporting which included multiple construction sites and almost 500 stakeholders gathered into business units of 60 to 90 people.
Profica’s teams have been known to meet challenges head on. Installing global retail giant H&M at the popular Gateway Shopping Centre in Durban was one such challenge. Profica, who are project managing the new upgrade at Gateway managed the H&M installation as well as undertaking the tenant coordination. Peter Ferraz, Durban head of Profica, says that the build was highly complex due to the sheer volume of the space required by H&M. “We had to combine a number of boxes (retail spaces) which necessitated the vacation of tenants into temporary spaces."
When establishing a market presence, companies need team players who are not only knowledgeable self-starters but must be ready to take on challenges and expand their capabilities at a fast pace. At Profica, this attitude still persists even though the company is firmly into its second decade.
Tinashe Manyande, based at the Profica Ghana office, is one such team player. He had originally been working as a project manager at Profica’s head office for two years before being asked to relocate to Accra, Ghana, to assist with establishing Profica’s in-country presence. Today Ghana has a 5-strong team, an impressive track record and a growing portfolio of clients.
