Profica’s talented Design & Build team has been given another boost with the appointment of Julie McLeod as Operations Manager. With her strong experience in full turnkey Design & Build and specialist expertise in developing and overseeing procurement strategies for major clients both locally and in sub-Saharan Africa, Julie is the perfect fit.
Julie, who was appointed in early January, has had extensive experience in the Design & Build space having previously co-founded a Design & Build consultancy with a focus on office fit-out. This was after identifying a market gap in the provision of workplace solutions focused particularly on each client’s individual needs.
Prior to embarking on her own business, Julie was the Head of Operations at a global Design & Build fit-out company where she developed a passion for procurement. She says, “One of my strengths and passions is procurement, and I have significant experience in buying, selling and negotiations.”
Julie’s BA Degree in Applied Psychology in Professional Contexts, with a specialisation in business management and industrial psychology, is a strong complement to her technical skills, and frames her ideas on Design & Build and office fit-out. “My belief is that Design & Build is so much more than simply providing a great solution based on the client’s technical specifications. It is no longer just about ticking boxes on the delivery of technical specifications and material requirements. Workspaces are ‘lived spaces’ yet often the personnel’s potential interactions within the space are the last consideration in the mix. Workplace design must enable optimal workflow but also support a healthy staff complement that is able to work productively. I was excited to recognise the same ethos in Profica’s Design & Build team, which I find is reflected in their portfolio of repeat clients and the delivery of on-point solutions.”
